Step-by-Step Instructions
- Begin by bringing a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil over high heat. Once boiling, add 8 ounces of spaghetti or linguine and cook until al dente.
- While the pasta cooks, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add 2 minced garlic cloves and sauté for 1-2 minutes.
- Add 1 can of sardines, including the oil, to the skillet with the garlic. Gently break the sardines apart and cook for approximately 2-3 minutes.
- Stir in the zest and juice from 1 lemon, along with ¼ teaspoon of red pepper flakes if using. Mix everything thoroughly for about 30 seconds.
- Now, add the drained pasta directly into the skillet with the sardine mixture. Toss everything to coat the pasta evenly in the sauce.
- Taste your Lemon Sardine Pasta and season with salt and black pepper to your liking. Stir well for even distribution.
- Serve your Lemon Sardine Pasta hot, garnished with freshly chopped parsley and optionally sprinkled with grated Parmesan cheese.
