Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by heating 1 tablespoon of oil or ghee in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the beef in batches and sear for 4-5 minutes until browned on all sides. Transfer the browned beef to your slow cooker, ensuring it’s well distributed.
  2. In the same pan, add another tablespoon of oil and reduce the heat to medium. Sauté the chopped onions, garlic, and ginger for 2-3 minutes until the onions are translucent and fragrant.
  3. With the aromatics softened, add in the ground turmeric, coriander, cumin, garam masala, and red chili powder to the pan. Stir these spices for about 1 minute.
  4. Pour in the beef broth and water, scraping any browned bits off the bottom of the pan. Allow the mixture to simmer for 2 minutes.
  5. Carefully transfer the sautéed mixture into the slow cooker, layering it over the seared beef. Add the cinnamon stick, bay leaf, chopped cilantro, and a sprinkle of salt. Stir gently to combine all the ingredients.
  6. Cover your slow cooker and set it to cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours. The beef will become tender and soak up all the spices.
  7. Once cooked, gently stir the Slow Cooker Indian Beef Curry to mix the flavors, ensuring the beef is evenly coated in sauce. Garnish with additional chopped cilantro before serving.
