Method
 

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Core the medium-sized apples, making sure not to cut through the bottom. Slice them vertically every 1/4 inch to create a 'blooming' effect.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, chopped pecans or walnuts, and optional dried fruits.
  4. Spoon the filling mixture generously into each sliced apple, packing it tightly.
  5. Place the stuffed apples in your baking dish, ensuring they stand upright.
  6. Drizzle the melted butter over the tops of the stuffed apples.
  7. Pour 1/4 cup of water into the bottom of the baking dish.
  8. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes.
  9. Let the Baked Bloomin' Apples rest for a few minutes before serving.
